The match between the two sides at Bedford Modern School in June had also been won by Hertfordshire. For the winners, Coleman with his fast deliveries took 13 wickets in the match for 127 runs, with 7 wickets for 50 runs in the Bedfordshire first innings and 6 wickets for 77 runs in the second. There were 8 fours in Golding’s 69. For Bedfordshire Orr top-scored with 49. Wharmby received a nasty knock on his right hand in the Hertfordshire first innings which interfered with his batting and prevented him from bowling in the Hertfordshire second innings. In press reports, the fielding of Graham, Leventhorpe and Atkinson was highly commended. [Missing: Umpires; close of play batsmen scores; extras breakdown; fall of wickets; in Hertfordshire second innings batting order; in Bedfordshire second innings part batting order; precise time completed.] Sources: Herts Advertiser 13 July; Watford Observer 13 July; Leighton Buzzard Reporter 13 July; Cricket 13 July p 333. 46
