On his debut Falconer took 12 wickets in the match for 88 runs, including 6 for 40 in Hertfordshire’s first innings and 6 for 48 in their second. Burton took 5 wickets for 48 runs in Norfolk’s first innings. Thurgar received a cut in the last over of the first day’s play and Barton kept wicket on the second day, E F Dodd fielding as substitute.
