For Durham there were 3 sixes and 7 fours in Adamson’s 54 and Bradford’s 60 included 1 six and 6 fours. For Staffordshire, Hollowood top-scored with 48. Deyes took 5 wickets for 60 runs whilst Cook took 3 catches. The Staffordshire captaincy devolved upon Scott by desire of Briggs, who preferred to be relieved of the responsibility. Barnes was absent due to playing in a Test match.
