MInor Counties Championship 1912
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS This publication is the product of a considerable team effort. The County Statisticians for the 20 teams that participated in the 1912 Championship have been: Bedfordshire Tony Webb Berkshire Roy New Buckinghamshire Douglas Miller Cambridgeshire Colin Munford Cheshire Tony Percival Cornwall Michael Weeks Devon Harold Shaw Dorset Durham Brian Hunt Glamorgan Andrew Hignell and Cyril Waite Hertfordshire James Wright Kent 2nd XI Howard Milton Lincolnshire Colin Munford Monmouthshire Cyril Waite Norfolk Stephen Musk Northumberland Barry Greenbank Staffordshire Kevin O’Connell Suffolk Colin Munford Surrey 2nd XI Michael Pearce Wiltshire A volunteer is still being sought for Dorset but Nick Webb has offered to help with Wiltshire going forward. Thanks are due to Roy New for retrieving information from the Wiltshire newspapers for 1912. At this point we must record our thanks to Barry Greenbank who has stood down as the Northumberland representative on the project. His input has always been thorough and timely and often included additional material of interest. 1912 is also the final year for which we received input from Harold Shaw . His submissions for the Devon scorecards ensured that the information he provided on their matches was very comprehensive. Very sadly we must report on the deaths of two great supporters of this project. Dennis Lambert was a regular attendee at our annual meetings at Trent Bridge and always gave wise council. Another very significant loss is that of David Harvey in 2017. For many years he would proof read the final draft of these annuals and would invariably find corrections to be made. His most meticulous approach has greatly improved the quality of these publications. Another person who has contributed to this book is David Steedman who did the first ‘type’ of the scorecards for 1912. Tony Percival continues to provide additional biographical information on players in the course of his research for the series of Cricketers books by County. We must also continue to acknowledge the significant contribution of the former editor Tony Webb who supplied all of the original draft scorecards and much other information on the 1912 season. The appreciation of colleagues for the assistance given by the County Record Offices and County Libraries up and down the country must be recorded, as must that of the National Archive at Kew and, also the staff at the new reading room at the British Library on Euston Road, London, from where the national collection of British newspapers is administered. 16
