As it was not possible to arrange a challenge match against Norfolk the Championship was left in abeyance. Although the batting of Sydney Barnes was not as productive as in 1911, the cost of his wickets fell from 7.49 each to 5.41 this season. George Watson, in his first season, took 38 wickets at 13.34. During the season career milestones reached were 700 runs by Sydney Barnes and 50 catches by Percival Briggs.
