The match between the two sides at Stoke-on-Trent earlier in the month had also been won by Staffordshire. Torrential rain during Sunday night, followed by several prolonged showers on Monday morning meant play did not start until 11.45 am on Tuesday morning. For Staffordshire, who at lunchtime had scored 109-7, Wilson then hit 73 in 40 minutes which featured five sixes and three fours. Barnes took 10 wickets for 42 runs in the match, including 6 wickets for 30 runs in Glamorgan’s first innings, during which he bowled unchanged. Having secured the final wicket of the match he was given a standing ovation as the players left the field. For Glamorgan, who were dismissed twice in under 58 overs, Morris’ second innings score of just 34 represented over a quarter of the runs scored off the bat in both innings. Creber took 5 wickets for 109 runs in the Staffordshire innings. All sources give Hacker bowling 1 and Maxwell 2 no balls in the Staffordshire first innings although the total for the innings is only 2, the assumption being that one was scored from.
