The margin of victory was the narrowest of the season for a team successfully chasing a fourth innings target. The match was for T Davies’s benefit. Monmouthshire followed on 145 runs behind and set Devon a victory target of 83 runs in 100 minutes. Hartley and Aston added 26 for the last wicket, the winning run being a bye. Weight at point missed catching Aston when the score was 72. For the winners, there were 9 fours in Harrison’s 76 and 1 six and 9 fours in Light’s 57. For Monmouthshire, there were 9 fours in Stratton’s 72, 7 fours in T B Williams’s 63 not out, and 6 fours in Silverlocks’s 52.
