The encounter between the two sides at Wolverton in June had also been won by Surrey. For the winners, Platt took 14 wickets in the match for 42 runs, including 7 for 19 in the first innings and 7 for 23 in the second. In the Buckinghamshire first innings he performed the ‘hat-trick;, his victims being Wheeler, Lowndes and Page. Vigar top-scored for the home team with 38. For the losers, Faulkner top-scored with 20. This was the first Championship match played on the Horley ground.
