A violent thunderstorm and heavy falls of rain prevented any play after lunch on the first day. There was more heavy rain overnight and when the pitch was examined at 11.00 am on the second day it was unplayable. It was hoped with conditions improving play might be possible later in the day and an early lunch was taken. However, more rain came down and the match was finally abandoned at 1.45 pm.
