The margin of victory was the third largest of the season. Bad light halted play shortly after 6.00 pm on the first day and Durham then declared hoping to have an opportunity of bowling at Cheshire again that evening. However, the light did not improve and play was abandoned for the day. On the first day Cheshire were bowled out before lunch in 90 minutes. For the winners, Morris took 10 wickets in the match for 92 runs and Turnbull 9 for 104. There were 20 fours, 3 threes and 16 twos in Gore’s 141 not out, an innings of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Bradford’s 89 included 1 six and 14 fours, Proud’s 60 contained 10 fours, and Thackeray’s 50 included 10 fours. In the Durham innings Gore and Coulson added 61 runs for the eighth wicket, Gore and Thackeray 96 for the ninth, and Gore and Parkin 51 unbroken for the tenth. The Durham total was the third highest of the season. For the losers Jones’s 63 not out contained 8 fours.
