Rain delayed the start on the second day until shortly before 3.00 pm and the stumps were drawn at 5.15 with the light deteriorating and heavy rain threatening. For the home team, Crookes scored 88 which included 1 six and 12 fours and Harrisson 68. In the Lincolnshire innings, Crookes and Allen added 50 runs for the ninth wicket. For Suffolk, Pritchett scored 126, an innings of 3¼ hours. With Smith he put on 93 runs for the eighth wicket in the Suffolk first innings. Penfold did not take part in the match before the second day as he was a late replacement for Quaife, who withdrew at the last moment ‘for domestc reasons’. It was estimated that close to 600 spectators were present on the second day.
