The match between the two teams at West Hartlepool in June had been drawn. For the winners, there were 6 fours in Broughton’s 67 and 5 fours in Williams’s 56. In the Lincolnshire innings, Williams and Cooke added 80 runs for the eighth wicket. Broughton also took 7 wickets for 52 runs in the Durham second innings. Stoner was absent hurt in the Durham second innings, having been hit on the head by a return drive when bowling to Williams which forced him to withdraw from the match.
