Minor Counties Championship 1908

17 The Averages As in previous years the averages are provided in two forms – by county and by player. In both cases they are listed in alphabetical order. 515 players took part in the season, a new record, compared with 497 in 1907 and 506 in 1906. In the averages the symbol * indicates a not out innings, + denotes a player making his debut for his team in 1908, of which there are 188 and a name in bold denotes a player making his final appearance for his team in 1908, of which there are 146. An addendum and corrigendum for previous seasons, which list details found since the previous issue, is included after the statistical survey of the season. This year the addendum and corrigendum are much larger than usual because an attempt has been made to follow through the consequences of the necessary revisions required by the discovery of the full bowling analyses for the 1904 Match 77 Cornwall v Dorset match at Liskeard; the subsequent possibility to derive the Dorset bowling analyses for Match 23 v Wiltshire at Trowbridge that year; and the fact that two Blackwells played for Cornwall in 1904 not one. Minor Counties Representative Match There was no representative match in the 1908 season. BIBLIOGRAPHY The main sources for the match scores are listed with the scores.
