The bowling was not as effective as in 1907, Frederick Geeson took 52 wickets at 18.67 compared with 70 at 9.25 in 1907, whilst Jack Broughton took 29 wickets at 19.89 compared with 51 at 12.25 the previous season. During the season Frederick Geeson passed the career milestone of one hundred wickets.
