The match between the two teams at Swindon in June had also been won by Surrey 2 nd XI. For the winners, there were 2 fives, 24 fours, 3 threes and 6 twos in Spring’s 135, scored in two hours, and 17 fours, 3 threes and 5 twos in Davis’s 104, an innings of 2½ hours. They put on 235 runs for the seventh wicket. Abel scored 53. Hitch took 11 wickets in the match for 116 runs, including 8 for 87 in the Wiltshire first innings. The Surrey 2 nd XI total of 498 was the second highest of the season. The 167 runs conceded by Miller were the most in an innings all season.
