Only eight matches were played as Oxfordshire and Wiltshire were no longer met, the new opponents being Dorset. The weak batting is clear from the fact that only two batsmen, Teddy Diver and Arthur Silverlock exceeded two hundred runs. Three bowlers took between twenty and thirty wickets each – Richard Steeples, Arthur Silverlock and W Williams. The poor results were attributed to wet wickets, weak batting and bowlers unused to slow wickets. During the season Arthur Silverlock passed the career milestones of four thousand runs and two hundred wickets and Teddy Diver fifty dismissals.
