James Heap had a good season contributing 321 runs at 32.10 and taking 69 wickets at the low cost of 8.50 each which included 10 for 74 in the Yorkshire 2nd XI first ininngs at Old Trafford. Alfred Hartley was the leading batsman with 566 runs at 35.37. The season saw the first use of the Lancaster Cricket Club Ground, Lune Road, Lancaster and the Wigan Cricket Club Ground, Bull Hey, Wigan as venues for championship matches.
