The match between the two sides at Poole at the end of June had also been won by Wiltshire. For the winners, there were two centuries with Warrilow scoring 146 and Butterworth 122. Miller scored 55 not out. Smart took 10 wickets in the match for 118 runs. In the Wiltshire innings, Newman and Butterworth added 102 runs for the third wicket and, according to press reports, Warrilow and Miller added 112 for the seventh wicket, which was the second highest partnership for that wicket during the season. For the losers, W H Budge top-scored with 48. Sewell had split his hand badly when fielding on the first day and did not bat in either Dorset innings. The margin of victory was the second largest during the season.
