The Surrey declaration left Glamorgan a second innings victory target of 242 runs in 2½ hours. For the visitors, Creber took 10 wickets in the match for 214 runs. The 214 runs he conceded were the most in a match during the season, and a new Championship record, exceeding his own record of 213 runs for Glamorgan against Surrey 2 nd XI the previous year, also at The Oval. There were 6 fours in Brain’s 54 and 1 five and 7 fours in Russell’s 50 not out. In the Glamorgan first innings, Osborne and Creber added 50 runs for the eighth wicket. For Surrey, Goatly’s 1 28 contained 3 fives, 17 fours, 2 threes and 11 twos, scored in 145 minutes. His first innings 84 included 2 fives and 9 fours. In the Surrey 2 nd XI second innings, Goatly and Nice added 125 runs for the third wicket. The 212 run match aggregate of Goatly was the highest of the season. The five catches held by Bancroft in the match equalled the most in the season.
