The match between the two sides at St Albans in July had also been drawn. For Bedfordshire, Brown scored 126, which included 14 fours, 3 threes and 16 twos, and Wharmby scored 100 not out. Hodgkins scored 62. In the Bedfordshire innings, Brown and Wharmby added 212 runs for the seventh wicket. It was the highest of the season and a new Championship record, exceeding the 179 runs put on by G J Thompson and T A Brown for Northamptonshire against Durham at West Hartlepool in 1899. For Hertfordshire, White and Coleman both scored 70.
