The match at St Albans in July had been won by Hertfordshire. For the winners, Wright took 11 wickets in the match for 71 runs, including 8 for 36 in the Hertfordshire second innings. He also made the highest score of the match with 41. For the losers, Butcher top-scored with 24 not out. The 18 maidens bowled by White in the Buckinghamshire innings were the third highest during the season. When he caught White in the Hertfordshire first innings, Wright held his fiftieth catch in championship matches.
