Monmouthshire had also won the match between the two sides at Reading in June. Monmouthshire won the toss and asked Berkshire to bat first. For the winners, there was 1 six, 32 fours and 4 threes in Silverlock’s 206 not out, an innings of 4 hours and 40 minutes. It was the highest score of the season and the only double century. The 846 runs were the third highest match aggregate during the season. E S Phillips scored 111 which contained 1 five and 16 fours. P C Phillips’s 66 contained 9 fours. In the Monmouthshire inning s, Silverlock and E S Phillips added 197 runs for the second wicket, which was the second highest partnership for that wicket during the season, and Silverlock and P C Phillips 138 for the fourth, which was also the second highest partnership for that wicket during the season.
