For the winners, Silverlock carried his bat in an innings of 130 not out scored in 160 minutes, in which there were 20 fours and 5 threes. It was the first of two occasions that this feat was achieved during the season. Diver scored 52 in thirty minutes with 10 fours. In the Cornwall first innings, when the score was 77-4 wickets, Trevarthen was hit in the stomach and retired hurt. He returned to bat at the fall of the ninth wicket, but failed to score before he was run out. [Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; part fall of wickets; in Monmouthshire first innings twos in Silverlock’s 130 not out.] Sources: South Wales Argus 12,13 July; South Wales Daily News 13,14 July; Western Mail 13,14 July; Royal Cornwall Gazette 20 July; Western Daily Mercury 13,14 July; Western Morning News 13,14 July; Sporting Life 13,14 July.
