Notes: Winning only one match, the county finished equal last in the Championship, an experience they had previously had in 1896 when only seven teams qualified for the competition. Bedfordshire and Staffordshire were replaced as opponents by Norfolk and Suffolk. There were further changes in the administrative team with H T Baines succeeding F C Bridson as Hon Secretary. When the latter was appointed at the end of the 1904 season, there had been some enthusiasm expressed in the local newspapers, with talk of a new era with greater successes on the field and financial stability off it. A major effort was made by the Club to clear its debts and increase its income, which in 1904 had been little over half its expenditure. The career milestone reached during the 1905 season was two thousand runs by Hubert Bassett.
