Devon had also won when the two teams met at Cardiff in July. For the winners, Light and Aston bowled unchanged through both Glamorgan innings, Light taking 11 wickets in the match for 81 runs, including 7 for 29 in the first Glamorgan innings, and Aston 9 for 51. Light also top-scored for Devon with 41, including 2 sixes and 3 fours. For the losers, Creber and Nash also bowled unchanged through both innings. Riches top-scored for Glamorgan with 35 not out which included 3 fours. Within minutes of the game being completed, there was a deluge of rain which continued well into the evening. The match aggregate of 273 runs was the lowest of the season for a completed match. When he had scored 4 in the Devon first innings, Aston reached the career milestone of one thousand runs in championship matches.
