The margin of victory was the smallest by runs in the season. The game between the two teams at Bedford the previous week had also been won by Bedfordshire. For the winners, Brown took 11 wickets for 65 runs as well as top-scoring in the match with his innings of 45. During the match three batsmen were dismissed without scoring in either innings. When dismissing Wharmby in the Bedfordshire first innings, P Rogers took his three hundredth wicket in championship matches.
