The game between the two teams at Oxford the previous week had been drawn. For the winners, White scored 99 and Golding 75. Golding and White had a large partnership for the third wicket which probably exceeded a hundred runs and could have been the second highest for that wicket during the season. The highest known partnership for that wicket was 133, and the other two known century partnerships were 107 and 106. Boissier scored 65 not out for Oxfordshire. On the first day, play had been extended for a few minutes to allow White to score his century, but he was caught at mid-on off J WMarsh’s lob bowling for 99. When dismissing Roberts in the Oxfordshire second innings, Coleman took his two hundredth wicket in championship matches. [Missing: Fall of wickets; in Oxfordshire first innings boundaries in Boissier’s 65*, and why Willson absent; in Hertfordshire innings boundaries in White’s 99 and Golding’s 75; time completed.] Sources: Herts Advertiser 15 August; Herts Leader 18 August; Watford Observer 15 August; Oxford Times 15 August.
