For the winners, Thompson took 10 wickets for 53 runs in the match, including 8 for 25 in the Durham second innings. For Durham, E W Elliot made the top score of 38 not out. Turnbull missed the second day as he had to play a match for Nelson in the Lancashire League. The 21 maidens bowled by Butler in the Northamptonshire first innings were the most in an innings during the season. The 4 catches held by Smith were the most by a wicket keeper in a match, a feat equalled by three others. When he had scored his first run in the Durham first innings, Elliot reached the career milestone of two thousand runs in championship matches.
