For Bedfordshire, there were 10 fours, 8 threes and 9 twos in Oliver’s 117, an innings of 2½ hours. Wharmby’s 66 contained 4 fours, and Peel’s 58 6 fours. In the Bedfordshire innings. Oliver and Wharmby added 139 runs for the second wicket. For the visitors, W Brown scored 107 not out, an innings of 3½ hours. He also scored 60 in the first innings. All eleven members of the Bedfordshire team bowled in the Staffordshire second innings. It was the second time that this had happened in a championship match. The previous occasion was in 1898, at the County Ground, Swindon, when all 11 of the Wiltshire team bowled in the Worcestershire second innings.
