For the winners, Turnbull took 11 wickets in the match for 88 runs, including a ‘hat-trick’ in the Yorkshire second innings when his victims were Frank, Bates and Jagger. The feat was achieved on one other occasion during the season. There was 1 six and 9 fours in Cumberlege’s 81, scored in 45 minutes, and 6 fours in Coulson’s 54. In the Durham first innings Coulson and Cumberlege put on 108 runs for the fifth wicket. For Yorkshire 2 nd XI, Swithenbank’s 83 included 9 fours. When catching Dobson in the Durham first innings, Higgins reached the career milestone of fifty dismissals in championship matches. Similarly, when catching Rudston in the Yorkshire first innings, Kirtley made his fiftieth dismissal.
