Whereas in 1902 not a point had been gained, a first innings lead over Staffordshire at Poole gave the county their one and only point for the season. With the exception of Staffordshire replacing Surrey 2 nd XI, the same opponents were met as in 1902. P Crimmins scored the first century for the team in the Championship. The new County Ground at Poole was opened at the beginning of the season, but the weather caused the abandonment of one match and interfered with play in the other 3 games. No major career milestones were passed during the season. Of those making their debut during the season, E R Morres and H F M Morres had both made their championship debut for Berkshire in 1897. E R Morres had played 7 matches for that county between then and 1900, while H F M Morres had played 14 such matches up to 1902. H F M Morres was to play one further match for Dorset in 1905, before returning to play another 17 championship matches for Berkshire between 1906 to1923.
