For Monmouthshire, Steeples took 10 wickets in the match for 143 runs. Of Silverlock’s two innings of 50, both contained 9 fours. For Berkshire, Gibb scored 95, Rowe 94 with 12 fours, and Watts 72 not out with 11 fours. In the Berkshire second innings, Morres and Rowe put on 101 for the first wicket, and Watts and Cave 75 for the seventh. When Gibb had scored 11 in the Berkshire second innings, he reached the career milestone of 1,000 runs in championship matches. By coincidence, when Watts had scored 11 in the same innings, he reached the same milestone.
