For the winners, Medlicott scored 136, including 16 fours, 6 threes and 14 twos, Smith 102, containing 12 fours, 7 threes and 8 twos, and Stevens 51 with 7 fours. In the Wiltshire second innings, Smith and Medlicott put on 166 runs for the fifth wicket, which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season, and a new record for the Championship, exceeding the 158 added by N Miller and W J Baker for Surrey 2 nd XI v Wiltshire at The Oval in 1899. Medlicott and Overton added 58 runs for the eighth wicket. For Devon, Aston took 9 wickets in the match for 138 runs. Hingston top-scored with 34. When dismissing Linnell in the Devon second innings, Smart reached the career milestone of 200 wickets in championship matches.
