Despite being behind on first innings, Berkshire started batting after luncheon at 2.20 pm on the second day needing 88 runs to win. 34 runs had been scored for the loss of one wicket when heavy rain stopped play at 2.45 pm and the match was abandoned at 5.40 pm when it was judged that no further play would be possible. For Monmouthshire, there were 9 fours in Silverlock’s 77. In the Monmouthshire first innings, Stedman and Hudden added 72 runs for the seventh wicket. For Berkshire, Cave scored 67.
