Nevertheless, contemporary newspaper reports describe the matches on the ground as being played at Bedford. Career milestones passed during the season were one thousand runs by both H R Orr and G Pollitt, and two hundred wickets by T A Brown. Of those playing their final season for the county, none were to reappear in championship matches, but Baumgartner was to play one Test Match for South Africa against England at Durban in 1913-14.
