Only an hour of play was possible before lunch on the first day, and there was no play on the second day before 2.35 pm. Watts’s innings of 106 for Cambridgeshire contained 12 fours, 8 threes and 6 twos, and lasted 2 hours. There were 6 fours in Scott’s 52 scored in 85 minutes. In the Cambridgeshire innings, Watts and Scott added 122 for the fifth wicket, which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season. Norfolk were an all-amateur team. When he had scored 31 in the Cambridgeshire innings, Watts reached the career milestone of two thousand runs in championship matches.
