The match between the two teams at Swindon in May had been narrowly won by Wiltshire. For the winners, S Lowe took 11 wickets in the match for 70 runs, including 8 for 37 in the Wiltshire first innings. There were 13 fours in J H Brain’s 85, and in the Glamorgan innings he and his brother W H Brain put on 126 runs for the sixth wicket. W H Brain took 5 catches in the match to equal the Championship record, a feat previously achieved on 6 occasions. When dismissing R Lowe in the Glamorgan innings, Overton reached the career milestone of two hundred wickets in championship matches.
