Glamorgan won by an innings on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. Around three hours of play were lost on the first day because of rain, including an early cessation at 4.50 pm. For Glamorgan, there were 11 fours in Russell’s 69 and 1 five and 7 fours in Bancroft’s 50. Russell also took 8 wickets in the match for 41 runs. At the start of play on the second day Cording had not arrived at the ground when play resumed, so Creber went out with R Lowe. Cording was allowed to continue his innings after the dismissal of Creber and S Lowe with the score at 240. When dismissing Cruwys in the Devon second innings, Russell reached the career milestone of one hundred wickets in championship matches. [An alternative version of this score, based on Glamorgan sources, gives in the Glamorgan innings Roles bowling 32.5 overs and 6 maidens and conceding 117 runs, and Nichols conceding 50 runs; and in the Devon second innings Russell conceding 26 runs and extras 2.] [Missing: Time completed; initials of Roles.] Sources: Devon Scorebook; South Wales Daily News 25,26 July; South Wales Echo 24,25 July; Western Mail 25,26 July; Western Daily Mercury 25,26 July; Western Morning News 25,26 July.
