For the winners, there were 19 fours, 1 three and 3 twos in Clayton’s 105, scored in an hour and 40 minutes. It was the highest individual innings in the fourth innings of a match during the season. Clayton’s first innings 73 contained 13 fours and Page’s 60 included 10 fours. Clayton’s run aggregate of 178 for the match was the third highest by a batsman during the season. In the Northumberland first innings, Page and Elsey put on 106 for the ninth wicket, which was the second highest for that wicket during the season, whilst in the second innings Clayton and Mortimer put on 146 for the first wicket. For Yorkshire 2 nd XI, there were 13 fours in Ingleby’s 95, 1 six and 12 fours in Swalwell’s 84, and 6 fours in Swithenbank’s 50 not out. In the Yorkshire second innings, when bowling Tait, Tomkin reached the career milestone of one hundred wickets in championship matches .
