In the Glamorgan first innings they put on 100 runs for the fifth wicket. S Lowe performed the ‘hat-trick’ in the Surrey second innings, his victims being Holland, Montgomery and Smith. During the match, two batsmen passed the career milestone of one thousand runs in championship matches – Baker in the Surrey first innings when he had scored 16, and R Lowe when he scored his first run in the Glamorgan first innings.
