The margin of victory was the closest of the season and a new record for the Championship, beating the margin of 6 runs when Buckinghamshire beat Oxfordshire at Banbury in 1896. Miller and Creber each took 9 wickets in the match for their respective teams. For the winners, Taunton batted for an hour and three-quarters for his 59. It was the only score of 50 or more in the match. Wiltshire newspapers indicated that Miller kept wicket for Wiltshire when Smart bowled, whilst Glamorgan sources state these duties were performed by Stevens. It was the first time that a championship match had been played on this ground.
