In the Northamptonshire innings, Horton and Kingston put on 102 for the first wicket, and Thompson and Hall 108 for the third wicket. The margin of victory was the largest of the season, and a new record for the Championship, exceeding the innings and 233 runs win by Surrey 2 nd XI against Wiltshire at The Oval in 1899. Northamptonshire’s 470 runs innings total was the largest of the season without a century.
