This was the fourth representative match played by the Minor Counties and the second of the season, the match at Northampton in June having been won by the West Indies. For the first time 3 days were allocated to the match, but it was not first-class. For the MCC there were 1 five and 26 fours in Stoddartís 136, an innings of just two hours. King played two innings of 50 and 59, while Wynyardís 80 included 11 fours, Leighís 67 contained 6 fours and Vernonís 64 included 6 fours. In the MCC second innings, Stoddart and Wynyard put on 102 runs for the first wicket. Geeson took 10 wickets in the match for 179 runs. For the Minor Counties, Thompsonís 100 contained 15 fours, 3 threes and 5 twos, scored in shortly over three hours. Only three of the team that had played against the West Indians also played against the MCC ñ Creber, Horton and Thompson. The seven Minor Counties debutants were the two Brains, Brown, Horsley, Russell, Schwarz and Tomlin.
