8 of Ernest Tomlin of Northumberland in taking all 10 wickets in an innings for 31 runs against Norfolk at Norwich is worthy of note. He became the fourth bowler to achieve this feat, joining Ted Arnold of Worcestershire, Daniel Hayward of Cambridgeshire and Charles Shore of Norfolk. In terms of runs conceded, it was statistically the best performance so far, improving on the 10-37 of Daniel Hayward. On the basis of run and wicket aggregates, the all-rounder of the year was George Thompson of Northamptonshire, who in 14 matches scored 502 runs at an average of 31.37 and took 72 wickets at 15.48. His closest challengers were Mat Wright of Buckinghamshire who in 8 matches scored 433 runs at 48.11 and took 53 wickets at 11.52, Harry White of Hertfordshire who in 9 matches scored 363 runs at 30.25 and took 44 wickets at 20.09. In terms of matches played, Wright would have topped the list, with White second, Hubert Bassett of Oxfordshire third, and Thompson fourth.
