It had been agreed by the captains that the match would end at 5.15 pm to allow the Bedfordshire players to catch their train home. The result reversed the defeat suffered by Buckinghamshire at Leighton Buzzard the previous week. The match had been transferred from Aylesbury where the wicket had been judged unfit for a two-day Championship match. Rain delayed the start on the first day until 2.10 pm, and on the second until 11.35 am. For the winners, Nash took 15 wickets in the match for 90 runs, statistically the best bowling performance of the season. He took 7 for 57 in the Bedfordshire first innings, and 8 for 33 in the second. For the losers, T A Brown took 12 wickets in the game for 105 runs. Manton’s 42, the highest individual innings in the match, contained 4 sixes and 1 four.
