On the first day, the rain caused several interruptions to the cricket, and a rainstorm at 4.20 pm ended play for the day. On the second day, rain prevented any play and the game was abandoned shortly after 2.00 pm. Because Fryer, the selected Norfolk wicket-keeper, had injured a thumb while batting, Buxton kept wicket when Cambridgeshire.batted. The game marked Cambridgeshire’s debut in a Championship match, but the County only played home and away matches with Norfolk and did not ‘qualify’ for the Competition Table.
