The victory kept alive Durham’s chances of winning the Championship. Durham had also won when the two teams met at Philadelphia in June. For the winners, Gregory took 10 wickets for 72 runs in the game, including 9 for 41 in the Lincolnshire first innings which was statistically the second best innings bowling feat of the season. Macgregor’s 65 not out included 4 fours. In the Durham innings, Macgregor and Gregory added 67 runs for the eighth wicket. In the Lincolnshire second innings, Cheales and Broadbent added 54 runs for the eighth wicket. Martin kept wicket for Durham on the second day as Robertshaw had an injured hand.
