Worcestershire had also won when the two teams met at Stoke-on-Trent in July. On the first day, play did not start until just before 1.00 pm due to the late arrival of the Staffordshire team. There was a rain-interruption of an hour towards the end of the Worcestershire innings, and rain ended play early at 6.00 pm. For the winners, there was 1 six and 12 fours in Jobson’s 88 not out, and 1 five and 8 fours in E G Bromley-Martin’s 50, their partnership adding 77 runs for the seventh wicket in the Worcestershire innings. The Staffordshire second innings total of 23 and the match aggregate of 289 runs for a completed match were both the lowest of the season.
