On the first day the game started two hours late because the Cheshire team missed their connecting train at Leeds. For the visitors, there were 17 fours, 2 threes and 6 twos in Pointon’s 110. It was the first century scored in a Championship match. Davenport’s 57 included 9 fours. In the Cheshire first innings, Pointon and Davenport added 107 runs for the third wicket.
