Chapter Eight Maturity On 15 May 1910, the day before the opening match of the season, King wrote the following letter to the newly appointed county secretary: Mr Packer Dear Sir, Having met with an accident on Sat. I shall not be able to take part in the match to-morrow. My Physician ordering me to bed. Please to acquaint the Committee & Sir Arthur Hazelerigg. Trusting it will be fine for you & that the gate will be all that is disired. Shall be anxious to see the papers to-morrow night and sincerely trust our team may be victorious.
